11:09 am - Changes... I am starting a new journal. This is the last post. I'll make here. I will send all of my friends invites, not to worry. I'll not link to it here, as this part of the journey is over...and a new one is beginning. :) Current Mood: change

04:34 pm - Friday at last... I am so out of touch. Two 12-hour days this week and a total of 50 hours. My partner is back though and the pile of email is gone now. He left early to go see a girlfriend with a broken leg, but I only have one emergency deployment to send out and I am done. I was never so happy to see an IM as I was to see his this morning.
Anyway, now to catch up on the inter-tubes... :) Current Mood: relieved

OK, so...
She forgot to go to the Post Office, but it will be in the mail tomorrow. :)
I am alone this week, but I managed to keep ahead of the work today. I'll be at home working tomorrow and Wednesday.
It's been a nice day again. Turns out this has been the coldest Spring, or something like that, since 1891. Today it was sunny and warm though.
I am listening to the Mariners lose to the Marlins and just relaxing. Current Mood: calm

04:28 pm We scored big at the garage sales! We found a beat up, but comfortable, $5 chair to replace the one in that broke and a fireplace screen, one of those big ones with two handles, for $3. We have one of those fold-up ones and it keeps coming apart.
J found a bunch of craft stuff and we got a 5-year supply of emery boards for 50¢! I also fond a brand new keyboard and a mouse for $1 each. It was a lot of walking and driving, as we are out in the country, but we got some great views of the lake while browsing some of the neighborhoods around it.
After all that we went to a little burger place out here that I have been wanting to try and sat outside in the sunshine. Yep, it did come out today and is supposed to until Wednesday. Except at night (but you knew that.)
We're getting ready to clean out the fridge and then J's going to go grocery shopping.
Enjoy the evening. Current Mood: silly

12:43 pm - We better switch to indoors...
After some driving around, we found the dump and unloaded a truckload of junk. It cost us $27, but $10 was for a couple of motherboards and computer stuff. The garage is looking much better. Today Boy and I are going to move the freezer and the big shelving unit, then I'll figure out where I want to put up those leftover wire shelves.
It's still only 56°, but the day has brightened a bit. This sunbreak has lasted for a couple of hours, but showers are still around. Tomorrow looks a little better. Summer is nowhere to be found, though.
Have a delightful Saturday. :)

09:02 pm - We better switch to indoors...
I have given up. The rain continues and I can't get much done outside.
So, I am taking Friday off to get the garage cleaned up. First, oh joy, I have found the dump and it is close to us. No freeway. :) I have a couple of chairs and some other stuff too, I'm sure I will find.
Then I'm going to get all the stereo stuff out of boxes and into the tower. I have no speakers, but it will take up less space that way. The plant stand/baker's rack is next. It stood in our large foyer in Columbus, but we have no room here. It is going outside on the deck, back under the eaves, where we can put lots of plants on it.
After that, I am going to disassemble the big shelf unit, move a freezer, reassemble the shelves in a new location and hang up some shelves on the walls. I'm getting ready to build a workbench and everything needs to be rearranged out there. Someday the rain will stop, but I gotta do something now... Maybe after this, I'll paint my room.
I get to do a presentation tomorrow at another team's meeting, 15 minutes or so. It's a simple little 10 slide Powerpoint, but my boss is gushing about what a great thing it is. I hope she's still happy after I do it.
Tell somebody how much you love them. You'll both get a lift. :)
Later...

08:58 pm - Reelin' in the years...
I've been working hard, this week, even today and have some left for tomorrow. Nothing too hard, maybe a couple of hours to do a draft of a presentation.
We finally got new bi-fold doors and tomorrow Boy and I will put them up. We need to cut the grass, but the neighbors were not home all day for me to borrow theirs and then it rained. I will buy one next weekend when my Lowes card comes. I did put down more mulch, as it wasn't raining too much.
J got me a suction cup stick-on-the-window hummingbird feeder for my bedroom window as an early Father's Day present. I'll put it out when I can figure out how without falling out.
I'm putting together all the Steely Dan albums I have from Limewire and having fun listening.

The birds have gone for now, ( but here is one... )
The weather's been gorgeous today, 76 and sunny. I took the mower in, but he wants $200 to fix it, so I am just buying a new one, which won't be much more than that. We cut the grass with a borrowed one once again.
J is scheduled for a bone scan next week. She seems happy with the new doctor and that her pages and pages of records have come from the old one. Only a few more weeks of school for her.
With that, the pizza is calling. Hope you're having a great weekend!

08:09 pm We are overrun with hummingbirds. They gather all around the feeder out back, brown ones and some ruby-throated as well. I am trying to get a good picture of them. Soon, as this weekend looks sunny. :)
J's leg is really hurting again and she goes to see a podiatrist tomorrow. We're hoping he'll finally order an MRI. Current Mood: hopeful

07:54 pm Chicago couple blazed the trail for Internet love
Cute. :)
I was there, sort of. Back in the day, I worked for CompuServe. I started there in 1983, when all this was happening, as one of the first 100 people hired. I remember the story well and all the press it generated. Folks were paying $6 and up an hour to connect (and yes, there was lots of fraud attempted to pay for it), but it was all free for us. Gosh, those were exciting times, being on the leading edge of the curve like that. I should write a book about it someday... Think anyone would be interested? Current Mood: mellow

05:10 pm - Tired, but a good tired... Veggies planted, garden mulched, weeds cut down, fence put up. :)
( What hard work can do... )
Even the Boy helped, but we are tired.
Steak for dinner tonight. Girl wants us to all eat together, so we will.
A fine weekend. :) Current Mood: worn out

09:08 am
Today, we plant. Vegetables, upside down tomatoes and some flowers. I will be building a fence around the garden and J will do the actual 'green' stuff. I also have more digging to do. Perhaps I'll post a picture later of what will surely become this summer's project for me, clearing a garden around the fruit trees. But first, the areas around the patio and the side of the house need cleaning up and mulching and that I hope to finish today.
It's only going to be 70 today, a 20 degree drop from yesterday. Yes, Seattle set a record of 90 yesterday. Felt like it too...

07:46 am Whew...
Thursday was such a pissy day at work that when I came home (to work) and then the lawnmower broke, I just lost it. I had already bitten Boy's head off for no reason, but I just lost it.
So...I went to bed. At 7, in a stinking, frustrated funk, no good to anyone.
I woke up with the birds at 4:30 and went to work, still out of sorts, arriving at 6, when I'd usually be stepping out of the shower. No one was there. I got a great parking spot.
I escaped at 12:30, fleeing the city on a beautiful, warm, sunny day, one of those where the mountains 'pop' out of the blue sky, it seems. Up through Everett at 75mph, windows down and the music blasting with the rest of those playing hooky and getting out early. Got passed by a bike going 90 in the HOV lane. Wheee! Gave him a thumbs-up. Home in 40 minutes. If I had waited, it might have been 2 hours.
I worked from home until quitting time. Man was it hot (for here.) Nearly 80. We had all the fans going. The gang came over and we watched Sleeper, among other things.
I believe that I can fix the mower with a spark plug. Today will be 'hot' again. (I hear you laughing!) We have lots of stuff to do...
Peace, yo. :) Current Mood: calm

07:33 am I am back in the land of the living again. It's been the strangest cold, starting and staying in my chest. The coughing, I think, set off that earthquake in China...
Boy has been accepted at Running Start, the advanced placement, college-level coursework at the community college and the 'geek school' where they will teach him programming. I can't wait to help him with his homework.
Girl may have a job at the video game store where b\f works. She already knows how do do some of it from hanging with him. He was employee-of-the-month last time around.
J has been to the GP, been to the hospital for an unnecessary, mandated by the insurance company x-ray and is now waiting for approval to have the MRI she does need. We hope surgery during the summer is in the offing, but with the way this insurance company (not the one I work for) drags it's feet, we don't know.
We're heading for a BIG warm up over the weekend. The record high of 84 will likely fall. It will fall back again next week, but I hay have to break out the shorts.
OK, on to work... Current Mood: cheerful
